Spray Incident at Five Rivers, Oregon on April 30, 2003
1. Facing east from in front of house. Power pole is about 15
feet east of house. The clump of balloons at upper center is roughly
over our property line [wind and prop wash moved them around a lot].
Helicopter is flying directly along on our side of the the property line
on a course that will take it right over our spring [out of picture to
left].
2. Looking NNE from bottom of driveway. Helicopter has just
turned after spraying over spring, which is in trees to left of
helicopter.
3. Looking NNE from mid-driveway between chicken house [right]
and willow tree [left]. Our house is just visible to upper left of
chicken house [vertical pale boards]. Helicopter is flying directly
over back of the the house toward the spring, which is in trees to
upper left of house.
4. Looking north from driveway in front of house [upper story
just visible at bottom left center]. Helicopter is directly in back of
house banking over spring.
5. Looking east from right in front of house, sourth corner of
house with clematis visible, power pole is same one in #1. Helicopter
heading directly toward the spring, our two upper ballon clumps visible
to right of helicopter.
6. Looking east from front of house, helicopter heading back from
spring, circled our two upper balloons as if inspecting them.
7. Looking south from front of house. Helicopter is well over
our property; the clump of balloons at lower center has blown down
[from prop wash] well over our property line.
8. Looking NNE from driveway below the house. Helicopter is
above our house after spraying the spring.
9. Looking south from in front of house. Helicopter is spraying
well into our property; the walnut tree at right is at least 100 feet
inside the property line.
10. Looking north from right in front of house. Helicopter is
almost directly over our spring.
11. From front of house looking ESE, tenant's cabin on
right. Apple tree and fence post at center are on our property line.
Helicopter visible in distance to right of fencepost, turning toward
camera, spraying directly over Five Rivers, which runs along bottom of
slope on right. Our middle clump of balloons is at upper right.
12. Looking east from south corner of house. Helicopter has just
turned over our property at end of length-wise run down the valley.
[This was the only picture Nikko tried with full zoom, which doesn't
like moving targets.]
13. From right in front of house looking NNE, power pole same as
in #1. Helicopter making turn toward spring.
Description of helicopter pattern: First three passes were south to
north and back, coming over the ridge to the south of us, spraying
directly over Five Rivers, up our side to the spring, and back on the
same path three times. Then it started a lengthwise pattern up and down
the valley, turning each time over our property line and spraying the
spring again. It was spraying over the length of Five Rivers on the
lengthwise runs.
